Rickles will be talking on Dual theories: ‘Same but different’ or ‘different but same’?

Pre-doctoral Fellowship to visit UIC

We are very excited to announce a fellowship for PhD students at other institutions to join the project at UIC for six months or a year. If you are writing a dissertation in the philosophy of quantum gravity broadly construed, we can provide a (generous) stipend for you to spend time working with us in Chicago, and participating in the activities of the project. For information on the position(s) and how to apply, see above or the following link.

(Note: the position can start in fall 2016, but we will seriously consider applications for periods after that.)

Essay Prize Update

Many apologies to entrants to our essay prize contest for the delay in announcing the results. We were delayed first by extending the submission deadline, and then for a couple more weeks by events beyond our control. But our process should have been more resilient, so we do apologize, and thank you for your patience.

We now confidently expect to make an announcement by April 8th.

Summer school – applications due this week

Just a reminder that applications for our (close to) Chicago summer school are due by March 16th – no registration fee, and we provide room and board. Please contact us with any questions.

New predocs at Geneva

The Geneva Center welcomes our two new predoctoral fellows, who have started earlier this week: Radin Dardashti, who is completing his PhD at the LMU Munich, and Juliusz Doboszewski, who is working on his PhD at the Jagiellonian University of Cracow. Both of them will participate in the various activities of the Templeton-funded project Space and Time After Quantum Gravity and will also give talks during spring semester. Watch this space for more on their activities!

Postdoc at Geneva

Call for Applications:
POSTDOC POSITION in PHILOSOPHY OF QUANTUM GRAVITY
University of Geneva

The philosophy of physics group at the Department of Philosophy in Geneva solicits applications for a two-year postdoctoral research position, starting 1 September 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter. A start after 1 September 2016 would shorten the postdoc to less than two years; an earlier start may be possible. The position is funded by the John Templeton Foundation grant ‘Space and Time after Quantum Gravity’. Continue reading Postdoc at Geneva
